ok i'm finally here to post about dragon con. i'm not going to do it linear sorry. but i'll definitely highlight the awesomeness of the con.
- got to meet timothy zahn. and i got photo with him and he signed one of my books. he wrote the star wars books that are after movie 6. he wrote what would be 7,8,9. and they are the only books that are ok'd by lucas saying they are what happened after the movies (there's a picture of me with him on my flickr).
- got to meet tracy hickman and laura hickman. tracy hickman is one of the authors of the dragonlance series. laura hickman is his wife and has written some books with tracy. i got pictures of them and signatures.
- went to the stan lee panal. was amazing to see him. he's so absent minded but his work is amazing. he had just gotten back from shooting his cameo for the avengers movie.
-went to the lou ferrigno panel. he is one of the most positive people. he is all about making yourself connected to your body and being in a good positive life. it was pretty cool to see him. i think my dad was more excited about me seeing him then i was. hehe.
-went to the time travelers ball with greg, katie and rob. katie, rob and me dressed in steampunk (there's a picture of us on my flickr).
-saw greta win the intermediate level of the costume contest with her steampunk outfit (there's a picture of greta in her steampunk constume on my flickr).
-got to meet new people for i only new 2 of the 8 people on the trip.
-went to atlanta for the first time.
-bought some really cool swag. got an officially licensed wheel of time Aes Sedai ring. which means that robert jordan designed how the ring should look. got a captain america hoodie. got a captain america shot glass. got some bumper stickers: one is a wizard with a fire ball in one hand and the other is a smoldering gun and it says 'sometimes magic just doesn't finish the job', the other bumper sticker (pay attention travis) says 'there's nothing like a good full pipe at the end of the day'.
-saw some really cool constumes. there were some venture brothers, jarlaxe, mord siths, raistlin majere and Lauralanthalasa Kanan, captain america and red skull, a million harry potters and a million dr's from the different dr. who's, steampunk, star wars, star trek, firefly and sooooo much more.
-they did a blood drive and me, greg and greta all gave blood. we got a tshirt as a thanks.
-now here are some photos.

dragon con
so i thought i would share my excitement with everyone. for the last three years, i have been going to comic conventions. my first year was wizard world of chicago, the second one was c2e2 and this year i'm going to dragon con. i'm very excited for dragon con this year! it's next weekend and it's in atlanta, GA.
why am i posting this here? well, writers, stan lee, timothy zhan, and tracy hickman are all going to be there. i'm totally excited about getting their signatures and meeting them. for those who don't know: stan lee is the original creator for many different comics at marvel, timothy zhan wrote the three books that come after the 6th star wars movie and tracy hickman is one of the authors for the dragonlance series.
i'm also totally excited for i'll be cosplaying for the first time. i'm going to wear a steampunk out fit. i'm wearing a corset, some black leggins, bullet casing, and some black riding boots. plus steampunk jewelry. i'm totally excited about it all. i'll post pictures of my outfit when i come back.
so over all i'm totally stoked and can't wait! i'll put some pictures here and i'll definatlly have pictures up on my flickr. hurray for conventions!

steampunk at the renaissance faire
so this weekend i went to the renaissance faire in bristol, wi. it was tons of fun. i did some letterboxing, walked around, ate, spent lots of money and watched some really cool shows. while jeremy and i were there eating a guy and a girl walk by with really cool costumes on. i continued to stare at them and i realized that they had steampunk outfits on. so it didn't really fit the renaissance faire, for all the steampunk i've read and read about so far, fits in the victorian age which is the 19th-20th century. but it was still really cool to see. espically with me just getting into the reading the literature (which i've read 4 stories now and i'm totally into it. woot woot for steampunk as literature). so i thought i would share the outfits with you guys to show you a little bit of what the steampunk outfits can look like.

steampunk
so i have always know about the genre streampunk in the literary world. i was first introduced to it when i took a cyberpunk class in school. and until recently i hadn't really given steampunk much thought. well i had been looking at some steampunk fashion and have totally fallen in love with it. (here is an etsy site that i have fallen in love with.) steampunk clothing, jewlery, all of it is just soooo cool! but having never read any steampunk literature, i didn't want to buy anything in the fashion part. i didn't want to be one of those people. you know the people i'm talking about. the people that dress and act like the genre, but really know nothing about the actual literature. so i have gone to my friendly local library and got the book steampunk edited by ann & jeff vandermeer. it's a collection of steampunk stories in one book. it is laid out for someone who knows nothing about steampunk and it's literature. so i'm totally excited about reading the stories and seeing if i like steampunk literature. and even if i don't like the stories, i feel i can still go out and wear the fashion. for at least i can say i didn't like the stories. but if i like the stories (and so far so good) i can say hey man this genre is awesome! so never be one of those people. go out and read the stuff you are trying to look/act like. so i will report back if i like steampunk literature or not.
